There are 47.5 million people who are living with dementia which causes major problems with memory, thinking and behaviour. It is a serious illness with one new case diagnosed every four seconds according to statistics. Unfortunately, the volume of dementia cases are forecast to more than triple by 2050.
What we know about the illness is that anywhere between 60% and 80% of all dementia cases are due to the underlying Alzheimer’s Disease which has been at the forefront of biomedical research for some time. In fact, 90% of what is known about Alzheimer’s Disease has been discovered in the past fifteen years, such is the rate of biomedical advancement and technology.
However, there are many other forms of dementia that are rarely highlighted. Be Independent Home Care has put this infographic together to shine some light on eight types of dementia that are rarely heard about.
